The Gwarinpa village medical outreach will be RHF’s second medical project which aligns with our core values of service and compassion for the underprivileged communities in commemoration of the world health day which is on the 7th of April 2023. The rainy season comes with common diseases such as flu and malaria, and people living in these communities are prone to unhygienic practices which may cause some health issues. This is the organisation’s way of lending a helping hand to promote the health practices in Gwarinpa village. We have chosen to target both the elderly and the young as the theme of this year’s World Health Day is, “Health for All.”
Objectives
1. Identify and provide specific health needs to community members through tests and prescription
2. Sensitize community members on sexual reproductive health and rights
3. Commemorate the United Nation’s World Health Day, themed: Health for All
Expected Output
· Over 200 community members receive malaria medication and free testing on malaria
· Over 200 community members sensitized on sexual reproductive health and rights
· Over 200 community members are aware of their BMI and Blood pressure
· Over 100 children (including infants) receive multivitamins and antibiotics.
Expected Outcome
· Increase in safe sexual reproductive health practices in Gwarinpa community by Q4 2023 through reports from Primary Health Care Centre.
Event Highlight
As a continuous effort to ensure equal access to quality health for all, and in commemoration of the World Health Day, we held a Medical Outreach in Gwarinpa Village, Abuja. Residents of the community were able to get first hand access to medical consultation with the on site doctors and free medications where necessary. The need for continuous engagement through outreaches like this cannot be overemphasized. Residents were left happy and hoped for a revisit soon.
