Teacher Bank Project

The Teacher Bank Project addresses the growing teacher shortage in rural communities across Nigeria by identifying, training, and deploying qualified teachers to public secondary schools in the FCT, Niger, and Nasarawa State. Working in partnership with the National Youth Service Corps and community graduates, the project has impacted over 5,000 students and deployed more than 30 fellows across schools including GDSS New Bwari, JSS Area 11, GSS Tudun Wada, JSS Gaube, and JSS Sabon Lugbe. Beyond the classroom, Teacher Bank fellows mentor students, run clubs in STEM, environmental action, and literacy, and participate in school events by becoming role models in the communities they serve. A notable milestone of the project is that students at GDSS New Bwari can now sit their WAEC exams in their own school for the first time. Building on four years of proven impact, the project has secured a grant from the African Union to develop a platform that connects teachers to schools, enables professional development, and allows schools to post subject-specific vacancies scaling the model nationally.
